Jean-Michel Logan – Chalk Labyrinth – North East False Creek Seawall – Vancouver

I re-chalked this specific Labyrinth a number of times now, and it’s remained visible and walkable for weeks!

Visited it again today and though the colours have faded, the outline is intact.

This image captures the moment well.

I might re-chalk it.

Or await the rain then re-do it altogether with more exacting measurements.

“I went for a walk today and came across this Labyrinth. It is still a work in progress but what a delight to find this in a big city.” – Spyglass Place Labyrinth – Vancouver

…And this would be my cue to stop procrastinating and return to my Spyglass Place Labyrinth for a major Maintenance visit!

“To be honest, she’s an alien, don’t tell anyone though….” – False Creek Seawall – Vancouver Public Labyrinth

When I first placed a medium sized dinosaur egg in the middle of the centre of what would become the Vancouver Public Labyrinth, it was not large enough to stand nor sit on.

Far from it.

Then one day I returned for a maintenance visit and of all the stones, that was the only one which was missing.

I re-placed the disappeared centre stone with a much larger, heavier stone. Not just a dinosaur egg but a really big stone.

Some days later, I found yet another large rock during low tide in False Creek and placed it beside the first re-placement stone.

Since then, I have randomly seen people stand upon those two rocks once they reach the centre.

This is the first instance of seeing someone sitting on them.

Perhaps reaching the centre of the Vancouver Public Labyrinth then sitting and watching the setting set is a thing . . .

“Have you noticed this colourful little maze outside the Vancouver Art Gallery? 🎨” – Robson Square Labyrinth – Downtown Vancouver

When I first painted this Labyrinth in Robson Square, the idea of also painting the words “Robson Square Labyrinth” along the outside of it remained with me for some time.

I eventually opted to leave it and like Art Installations on display inside the Gallery, my lack of “Labeling” my Giant Outstallation Art allows people to interpret it or choose to refer to it as a maze instead of a Labyrinth, as they wish.

Happy Walking!

“START” – Chalk Labyrinth – Granville Street Intersection – Downtown Vancouver

This is one of the Labyrinths I have been randomly chalking in the middle of intersections along Granville Street in Downtown Vancouver when the street goes Car Free on Friday and Saturday nights during the summer.

Never thought to photograph an entrance to any of my Labyrinths from this exact angle before.

Gives me quite a different understanding of my own art.

Or should I say, “STart” ?

“Sometimes, you need to go back to the beginning and reset.

“It’s about the journey and not the destination, like a Labyrinth in the middle of the street.

“Live in the moment.”

* * *

“I love a Labyrinth and this one was in the middle of the street at two a.m. as the bars let out in Vancouver.

“People were smiling, connecting and enjoying.

“It was a moment.”

“Unraveling the maze.” – False Creek Seawall – Olympic Village – Vancouver Public Labyrinth

The dried grass, with its hair thin whispers of blades gently strangling the stone arcss of the Labyrinth, almost makes this seem ancient, like its always been there, betraying its age.

It’s barely fourth months old.

I began building this late March and finished it in April…

Spyglass Place Labyrinth – Britt Marie – Vancouver

For all the rain that Vancouver gets at other times of the year, nowadays with all the dry grass around, “Suncouver” is more like it.

“It’s time to get lost in the W E E K E N D ! 💓” – Chalk Labyrinth – Second Annual Strathcona Street Party – Vancouver Mural Festival

WOW!

This image makes the colours in my Chalk Labyrinth really pop!

I chalked this during my neighbourhood Festival, the Strathcona Street Party, held on June 23 2018.

It’s was a few blocks over from where I live.

Strathcona Street Party was also the kick-off for the 3rd Annual Vancouver Mural Festival season…

It’s time to get lost in the W E E K E N D ! 💓
