Music + Parade approach my multi-coloured painted Butterfly Labyrinth on Kensington Avenue during Pedestrian Sunday in Kensington Market Toronto . . .
“In a world filled with anxiety and mistrust, rage and hatred allow for a sheath of despair to cloud the mind.
This is a curse.
We often forget about the beauty in all things simple.
This is hope; Born from wishes.
When we are faced with obstacles it is like being trapped in our very own labyrinth. The feeling of not knowing where one is headed is a theme many can identify with. Confusion, panic, and fear are some of the emotions one may feel while trying to find ones way. The solution to the maze, as well as in life is patience, hope and a clear mind. Practice these things and the path becomes visible.”
“Ran into my old pal Aidan today.
He’s into fire.”
Owner of Banh Mi Bar/Pho Bar on Augusta Avenue in Kensington Market saw me painting Labyrinths during Pedestrian Sunday.
She offered me sandwiches of my choice in exchange for painting a Little Labyrinth in front of her restaurant.
I had the paint, I had the appetite, and here you are . . .
“I have been walking the Labyrinths in Trinity-Bellwoods park regularly for years – since they were first put there.
But I have had to watch the neglect and degradation of them to the point where they are no longer walkable.
does anyone know how to get them refreshed?”
There are on my To Re-Paint Labyrinth List.
And with the water turned on, The Wading Pool Labyrinth becomes a Wading Pool again . . .
There are five multi-coloured Classic Labyrinths I first painted on Easter Sunday 2009 along the pathway beside the ice hockey rink in the north-east corner of Trinity-Bellwoods Park, Toronto.
The five Labyrinths are 3, 7, 3, 11 and 3 Lanes respectively.
Together,
They comprise what I call The “Trinity-Bellwoods Park Labyrinth Walk”.
This is the 7 Lane Classic Labyrinth at the south end of The Walk . . .
