My Labyrinth in the Wading Pool in Christie Pits Park will no longer be filled with water this season.

This past weekend,

The Water Pump was shut off officially for this year.

The Wading Pool Labyrinth is now a full time Labyrinth until next Summer.

I usually visit it before and after Wading Pool Season to see what needs to be repainted.

This year,

I visited it once in late July and painted the broken arcs that had white caulking cement pasted over them.

Hopefully I will visit it once more before winter proper arrives to repaint whatever needs refreshing.

The Larger Idea is to paint over my decade-plus old existing Labyrinth design.

I could then paint an entirely NEW Labyrinth Design.

Maybe.

Before painting Labyrinths on this Pier overlooking Alder Bay in Vancouver,

I asked as many neighbourhood people as I could,

what regular events happened in this public space ?

Beyond an annual one day community garage sale / swap meet,

nothing happened else was programmed here.

It might be that my painting several Labyrinths here, transforming this pier into Labyrinth Pier, plus the Pandemic shutting down many indoor events, has brought out this Salsa Dance class . . .

Today is Day 26 of Ramadan 2020.

This video is from my journey to Madinah, Saudi Arabia in May/June of 2011.

I was walking from my youth hostel to visit Masjid Qiblatain.

Masjid Qiblatain is known for having two Mihrabs, or Prayer Niches.

Originally,

Muslims had faced north west from Madinah towards Masjid Al Aqsa in Jerusalem when praying.

A time came when the Direction of Prayer, the Qibla, was turned south east towards Makkah.

Hence,

The Masjid with Two Qibla.

En route,

A traffic island in the distance somehow caught my curiosity.

Alhumdulillah,

A Triangle Topiary Hedge Labyrinth !

Discovering this was a HUGE moment for me.

Muslims in The Holy City of Madinah were also making Labyrinths !

Afterwards,

I found a a small playground near Masjid Qiblatain.

In that park,

I outlined a simple three lane Classic Labyrinth in the sand and walked it.

Turning north and south and east and west.

Not unlike the Turn in Congregational Prayer Direction from Jerusalem to Makkah in the Masjid I was about to enter and visit.
